Timex Falcon Eye 20220502 - Q Timex Falcon Eye 1978 Reissue 1The Q Timex Falcon Eye 1978 Reissue evokes all the swagger of the 1970’s with the modern updates you’d expect.

REMEMBERING THE QUARTZ REVOLUTION

The year was 1978. Platform shoes and bellbottoms were the fashion, Grease was the word, and Atari’s Breakout was the end-all be-all of video games. For decades, Swiss mechanical watches had dominated the market, but for the first time, quartz watches became the #1 technology on the world’s wrists.

This was termed the “quartz crisis” in Switzerland because they were too slow to adapt to the new technology to avoid losing a tremendous amount of business to new manufacturers in Asia. But for consumers, this wasn’t a crisis at all: you got a more accurate watch for a more affordable price. It was a revolution of epic proportions.

THE ORIGINAL 1978 Q TIMEX FALCON EYE

Timex was one of the early leaders in mass producing affordable, stylish quartz wristwatches sold in the United States; at one time Timex had half of the American market. The Timex Q series was designed to capitalize on the tidal wave of popularity quartz watches had earned. Many styles of the Q emerged, including the most famous “Pepsi” red white and blue design in 1972.

But no edition of the Q spoke more of its time than 1978’s release of the Falcon Eye. Teeming with the majestic glow of blue and gold, the Falcon Eye brought a new swagger to the brand, evoking the glitz and glamour of movie stars and the mystery of Bond villains.

THE Q TIMEX FALCON EYE REISSUE

Owing to a wave of nostalgia for the classic styles of the Q Timex series, Timex has released a line of entirely updated reissues. Chief among these reissues is the Falcon Eye. They recreated every detail – a period-correct woven stainless-steel bracelet, functional battery hatch, two-tone case, luminescent paint and a striated electric-blue dial. The result is a refined watch retaining every ounce of soul and character from the era that inspired it.

Made from a fully stainless steel case with a polished finish, the heavily domed acrylic crystal is an outstanding complement to the lustrous deep blue of the watch’s dial. The blue undulating wave pattern is bold and bright, and each timepiece has a distinct set of waves making every Falcon Eye unique.

The diver-inspired 50-meter water-resistant watch also comes with a stainless steel 38mm case, rotating top ring, domed acrylic crystal, day and date window, and modern quartz movement. With a stylish face and ‘70s soul, this retro timepiece is ready for modern missions.

This classy piece will add swagger to any man’s step.
